You missed the point of my post.
The Committee undervalued the Big 12 all season while overvaluing the ACC at the same time.

You don't put all your weight in metrics, but you can't dismiss off hand, the clear fact that the Big 12 was much better and tougher than the ACC.

The metrics tell us quite clearly the ACC was not very good. Having two ACC teams in the playoff should have never been a consideration based upon conferences poor showing.

On the flip side, the metrics refused to give BYU credit for going into Dallas and beating what was clearly a legitimate top 25 team in SMU.

Between the metrics showing the Big 12 Conf. was on par with the B1G, and BYU's resume, they should have at a minimum been in discussions for the final at large spot in the CFP.

If we break down the 3 teams that were in the discussion for that last at large spot, none of them have a resume better than BYU's. In fact, only Alabama's is close to BYU's.

SMU- BYU beat them in their own house. That fact coupled with both teams finishing with 2 losses and BYU playing in the tougher conference, that should be the end of the discussion.

Alabama- The tide definitely has a couple of nice wins, but also has two very head scratching losses, Vandy and Oklahoma. And I'm sorry, but a top 15 team doesn't lose 24-3 on the road against a mediocre Oklahoma Team that finished 2-6 in the SEC, in the second to last week of the regular season.
You could maybe explain away a one score loss, but losing by 3 TD's should have eliminated Alabama from the conversation.

Miami- Do we even need to discuss this one? Miami is the perfect example of preseason hype far surpassing the team Miami actually was. Their best win probably came in a shootout against Louisville, 52-45. Louisville finished 8-4 in a very overrated ACC.

Indiana- And then we have a team that was the beneficiary of playing probably the easiest schedule of any P4 team. A roll of wet Charmin is tougher than Indiana's schedule was this year. They barely beat a mediocre, 7-5, Michigan team, and then got absolutely dismantled by the only good team they played all season , Ohio St., 38-15.
Keep in mind, Indiana only managed 153 yards of Offense against Ohio St.
I get that Indiana finished 11-1, but they didn't beat any good teams. In fact, Indiana's non Conf. schedule was a true guantlet made up of; FIU, Western Ill., and Charlotte.

The problem with the committee including Indiana was they sent 2 very clear messages, both of which are very bad for the future on CFB. First, they made it very clear that the there is no need to challenge yourself in the non Conf. portion of your schedule. Second, they confirmed what many suspected, they are just shills for the SEC and B1G.
