you light at the end of the tunnel. That might be to move to a different firm or go in house. You are gaining valuable experience that will open many doors in the future but once you’ve decided it’s only part of a two to three year plan it makes it more bearable. It also frees you up to turn down a few things here or there to keep some sanity in your life.

One more piece of advice I would give is to find some type of niche beyond just the general corporate practice. For example, I work in the energy finance space as an in house attorney and when we hire we focus heavily on relevant experience. Attorneys with a general corporate practice don’t really move the needle. I know many other companies that are in the same boat. They want specific experience for their in-house hiring.
