Why are we seeking a consolation prize? Had BYU handled business against Kansas, then we're not having this conversation.

But in order for them to have beat Kansas, they would have needed to not make the same mistakes they were making all year.

So no excuses. Control what you can and win the games you should win. If not, you can't whine about not being in the playoffs.
