good. We all want great results. He has his weaknesses. His teams aren't always as disciplined as we'd like. His recruiting in the past could be better (is this a result of him or BYU being independent and the perception that came with it?). The staff has done better with this last class and several transfers in the past couple years.
I think that the biggest issue that BYU football has had was being trapped in no-mans-land for 13 years. Independence was better than staying in the MWC, but it was hard and affected football and MBB (WCC) quite a bit. Bronco also struggled in independence (8 or 9 win season). He had his strengths and his weaknesses. It would be nice to combine Bronco's strengths with Kalani's strengths. We'd have the elite coach we all want.
The second biggest issue was uu's rise to the PAC and p5 money. It flipped recruiting and power perception in the state. BYU suffered. Also during this time, Bronco came out and said that independence was unsustainable. Regardless of what he meant, it hurt the perception of BYU football going forward. BYU lost 9 straight games. That hurts fandom.
If you want to bash the current coach at this time, you are a crap fan.
Let's hold off until the team has played at least 5 games in 2024. Whining this early doesn't do any good.
