I agree with SVP and Dusty Dvorcek who both said that they think targeting is called too much and they'd like to see it changed, but they both agreed that this was text book targeting.
DD said everyone he talked with agreed it was targeting. They both said they were shocked when it wasn't called targeting. I was shocked. It sounds like you were surprised. That alone should tell you that the call was wrong.
SVP said he believed if this was a regular season game it is called 100 out of 100 times and no one is complaining or questioning it. I totally agree.
It was absolutely targeting according to the rule book.
