My SoCal stake merged when I was a little kid. Lots of wards shutting down.
People moved out to OC or Hacienda Heights or other areas. That 45 years ago. Eventually started Spanish speaking wards, a then a stake. I left after high school. People kept moving out. Kids can't move back due to costs.
