I tell them that if there kid loves soccer and wants to play in high school, he/she could continue doing rec through 5th grade. Find a club team once you hit 6th grade.

My concern is that I hear club coaches telling kids that they have to play starting in 1st/2nd/3rd grade or you are just going to fall behind. To me that is the most selfish answer. They want the kids to play to make their team better and they get in the kids’ minds that once they don’t make their preferred club team it is done.

High schools would be better served to kill the notion that is getting spread from these club teams.

The second frustration is that they are telling kids they have to play year round at a very young age.

Both these actions limit the pure athletes that would play high school sports and make the high school teams better and would allow the kids to be kids.
