Disappointed kids. I wince when I drive by those fields. And I love the game! Loved coaching. But clubs? I've got concerns about clubs.

My unsolicited parting recommendation - emphasize coach over club. Taking everything else I've mentioned into consideration, your coach will have the most influence over whether your experience is positive or negative. (But what guys said above is true - the club/high school connection is tight and it's political.)
