A lot of people I know bag on Idaho and the level of their respective athletes but having lived in East Idaho for 23 years I can say without equivocation that they do one thing super well. That is, they have the 'rule of two' for HS coaches in all sports. That means if you coach outside of HS you can only have a maximum of two players from your club team on your HS team.

I wish they did that here in Utah where I live now. It's not too hard, with many HS teams, to identify which club is the 'feeder' club for a given HS program, girls and boys alike. Not to mention all the illegal recruiting that goes on. But if implemented you would have a greater separation between the two thus causing less importance to be place on a certain club or league division level.

I love how my daughter's HS team tells the girls in the very first pre-season parent/player meeting that she does not allow club gear to be worn at any HS soccer activity. And my daughter's club team has training t-shirts that they are required to wear which minimizes some of the "manner of -ites" that often can creep in.
