I grew up in SoCal - I loved it. But California reminds me of a third world
country now. If you can afford to live within 10 miles of the ocean, you will enjoy an amazing lifestyle. Everywhere else is garbage.
Of course I'm exaggerating here and my apologies to people who live in these places;
But if all you can afford is to live in Riverside or Inland empire or Stockton or Bakersfield or Palmdale or someplace like that - you are paying a premium to live in places with subpar schools, traffic and crime. And you would have a much better lifestyle making the same $ (or less) living in Boise, Reno, Spanish Fork, Mesa, Dallas, Idaho Falls, St George, etc.
