I've never understood the Boise st hate from our fans

I can easily understand and support our hate for Utah and even USU but I don't know why BYU fans are unwilling to root for Boise. I get that we were conference rivals but I always got the feeling that our games with them were more of a fun rivalry rather than a hate one. I'd be fine with Boise winning the natty over any other school and show up the supposed P4. Not sure why this doesn't stick well with fans.
