Kalani gets the credit for the Hill hire, just as he gets the blame for all the bad hires. However, the credit for the
D pretty clearly lies with Hill. If it was Kalani, then you'd have expected to see some sort of progress on that side of the ball over more than just the first 18 months Hill was on the job. Instead, the D was awful and stagnant* for the several years before Hill go there.\
*Awful and stagnant is reflected in consistently making the same mistakes, blowing containment, poor tackling, etc etc etc.
