It would be an utter failure if the lesson learned here is that you can harm others and weasel your way out of the consequences.
Sure, forgiveness plays a part in this, but that's an action for the injured to take and not us Monday Morning Moral Quarterbacksl. However, forgiveness doesn't rob justice from the state, and the state doesn't make the victim whole.
