have had a long-time a tradition where rookies "get hazed" by having to wear little kid backpacks when travelling. It is funny, innocent, out in the open. Those kinds of traditions are fun for players and the organization.
If there is a "hazing" tradition like that which is out in the open, not harmful, innocent, etc., then by all means. But there should be strict rules forbidding anything happening behind closed doors and especially anything involving any sexual themes or physical/emotional pain.
And agreed that if coaches don't properly control their program, there can be a natural tendancy for younger people to escalate and make dumb decisions.
