Some of your examples are terrible. Nick Saban took over a Michigan St team that hadn't had a winning season in 4 years. He never had a losing season in 5 years and capped that off with a #7 Final AP Ranking his last year. That is what I would call impressive.
Lane Kiffin was 7-6 at Tennessee his first year taking over for a team that was 5-7 the year before. Tennessee fans were really upset to see him go.
He was up and down at USC but finished ranked #6 one out of his 4 years, never had a losing season.
He was excellent at Florida Atlantic and has been very good at Ole Miss.
Sarkisian took over an 0-12 team at Washington and won 5 games his first year and 7 or 8 the rest of his run there. That is a large improvement. At Texas Sarkisian had a pretty ruff first year. But has followed it up with a solid one and then a really good one.
