I would have to dig into it, but to imply as you did that Kalani can follow a similar trajectory as the GOAT is a bit of a stretch.
I think there is something to be said to moving around and learning from other people. That could be what Saban did, I don't know. But eight years! Most middle of the road coaches don't get that long at the same place. You can argue that the rest of college football is wrong, that only BYU is correct in showing patience to the next Nick Saban, but that's a stretch. Kalani was saved by COVID, given more time that I don't think he would have demonstrably earned. I just think he is what he is, and that's an average head coach at best. He's not the worst coach out there, but he's also not going to suddenly right the ship that he's been leading for eight years.
