as a relative ignoramus (to the coaches not to CB) it seems one of the
better arguments to me is that this is "complimentary football"- the staff recognizes we have more talent on the Offensive side of the ball and the scheme has generally been to limit possessions and bet on the high efficiency of our offense along with the tendency for other teams to turn the ball over rather than sustain drives all the way down the field.
obviously, UVA was the outlier. According to Kalani they decided to play man, got burned a few times and then fatigue set in given our depth issues so they switched to zone at halftime and shuffled in players more often to keep fresh.
