A common tactic. When the numbers are so overwhelmingly against your position,
just state they can't be trusted. Sorry but when lives are on the line you can't just claim "fake news" and expect everyone to look the other way. Last time I checked, there are numerous countries with western democracies that also have much lower mortality rates than we do and much lower positive test rates. Nice try cherry picking countries though.

The more outbreaks and uncontrolled spread you have, the more testing is required to be able to adequately contact trace and isolate cases to control those outbreaks. The test positivity rate is what you want to look at as a reliable indicator of if you are testing enough. And the US positivtiy rate has continued to stay steady despite the massive increase in testing, indicating we aren't doing a good job of controlling the spread.

A country like Germany that has a test positivity rate below 5 percent on tests doesn't need to increase testing. they are adequately catching most of their cases. The total number of tests or tests per capita is not as important.
