Our response is far more relaxed than many countries.
For example, in Ecuador, Peru, and Chile there are hard quarantines that in some cases prevent you from leaving home for any reason short of medical emergency on some days of the week. You can be fined or arrested in many places for not wearing a mask. Check out this example from India of police treatment of non-mask wearers.
