Hill picked up two yards on that play. It was 3 and 5.
Not short...But far from 3rd and long. The drive before JSWAG fumbled on the first play leading to their immediate TD, we had knifed through their defense for 75 yards on 9 plays.

Hill gets hurt, it's 3rd and 5. JSWAG runs for 4 yards. It's 4th and 1, BYU lines up to go for it...even without Hill...but Kanuch jumps offside and now it's 4th and 6. We punt. They go over the top for 80 yards. Ballgame.

If Hill doesn't get hurt, maybe we still run JSwag or maybe Hill runs.. Or maybe he throws...But there was no way they were going to have Stewart throw cold. Not hard to key on JSWAG at that point.

Hill was 8 of 11 for 99 yards and a TD at that point and 32 yards rushing and a TD at that point. He was a Heisman candidate. You can think Hill stinks the rest of the game if you want, I think he keeps doing what he had already been doing...And gets stronger in the second half.

If Hill's playing, Vigil likely doesn't get to run for his apparently Adrian Peterson like 57 yards. Our team isn't shell shocked. Stewart doesn't throw 3 picks.

I think Hill continues to be Hill and we win.

It wasn't Vigil, it was the JSwag fumble, the immediate TD, the Hill injury killing that drive, the shell shocked team, and then that immediate throw over the top. It was that period.

You want to credit USU fur causing the fumble. Fine. That's legit. But it's always still on the back to secure the ball. Always. If JSWAG executes, who knows how that drive goes. He didn't. He fumbled. They go up by 7 when perhaps it's the other way if he executes his job. Even with that, I like Hill to pick up 5 yards on two downs. And I expect he scores...and continues to score. He was having a good game. Two TD's in a half...driving for maybe a 3rd. I like BYU's odds with a Heisman candidate at home. I don't with a walk on QB taking his first real snaps of the season.
