same criticism, if not more than Bronco. Consider:
BYU's last undefeated season was 1984.
Lavell's only 1 loss season 1996 (And it was a great year).
Lavell's record his last 4 season 29-20 (.591 winning percentage)
No one wanted to fire Lavell, but there were many who were grumbling even before the 96 season that he was tired and no longer the great head coach that he once was. If CB had been around, it would have been much worse.
BTW...Levell's record 91-95 was 35-21 (.625 winning percentage).
I have been watching BYU football since 1980 when the Miracle Bowl absolutely hooked me. I have always been a fan of Lavell and do not think that he should have been fired, but I think people often put on their blue goggles with him. After Detmer left Lavell had exactly one Special season (1996) and only got to double digit wins between 1991 and 2000 two other times. I am certain that if CB had been around since the 80's there would have developed a "fire Lavell" contingency, just like there is a Fire Bronco one.
