Variables that need to be acknowledged about all of them. First off, few if any teams really knew how to defend that offense back then because of its uniqueness; we had receivers wide open all over the field. Secondly, nobody came close to playing the caliber of teams/athletes that Jake has played and defeated. Third, Young and Detmer threw a lot of interceptions in the early years, but it didn’t matter because generally they were able to make up for it.
I saw everyone of them play so I’m not going off of hearsay. Jake has a long ways to go. He had receivers drop balls, but then he also missed some throws as well. He just needs to get more consistent. He reminds me more of Beck than anyone and expect him to have a major improvement next year. He should have plenty of motivation to double down on his preparation.
Quick correction: I didn’t see Scheide play, and only saw Nelson play a little bit, but watched all of the rest.
