Those are good numbers assuming the housing metric doesn't assume home ownership
Those numbers are enough in the markets I've lived in to get a decent apartment in a safe part of town. That definitely meets my definition of getting by though.
If a family wants to own in any of those markets, number needs to go up, or they need to be in a cheaper city. For Texas $100k is enough to buy in San antonio-New Braunfels but not Dallas for example.

Yeah, not ideal but rates will fall in time and prices on good homes 10 min from the beach will rise.

Because markets won't sustain these rates long term. Optimism for rate cuts is holding things together right now.

If only they’d stop buying expensive iPhones and save a little. My generation got by just fine that way.
