That's about $15K - $20K higher than where I'm at for a step 1 Bachelor's degree
Even the ultra-wealthy districts that serve the $3 million homes in gated communities of central/west St. Louis county are over $10K below Nebo. The Ladue school district (which covers the area where the St. Louis Temple is) starts at $45K. The Rockwood school district where most of the St. Louis pro athletes live starts at $43K.
$57K for a step 1 BS or BA is really high.

Subs in my district make between $20-21/hour. That's still a couple of bucks an hour above the fast food joints.

Any teachers’ wage needs to be multiplied by ~1.2 to reflect that they work less than the average job

I can't speak for all districts, but my wife teaches in Nebo and the starting pay has definitely gotten better through

30 years in with a Master degree can get you there. Throw in a few stipends for extra responsibilities at your school,
