I am fairly certain there have been more 5*-4* LDS kids in the last 5 years
than there were in the 20 years from 1978-1998 during BYU's peak winning period.
The LDS recruiting pool hasn't ever been so deep with talent, BYU just hasn't had much of a shot and fans seemed to have overlooked them because BYU didn't recruit them hard.
Missing the B12 train has significantly affected the psyche of the BYU fans I think.
5 years ago, this board would be going nuts about Mique Juarez, he is lightly recruited and it is a minor blip on the CB radar, if you want to ask the hard questions about why we aren't a top 20 team, you should start looking at top LDS athletes and ask yourself why they don't come to BYU, because if you took the top LDS kids in the country right now and made a football team, it would pretty easily be a top 20 team.
