Game prep and in game adjustment. Player development, scheme and conditioning. The stay positive no matter what mindset... removing reality and ignoring the problems until you are knee deep into the season and finally decide to take 4 days to try and fix it.
I mean, there are so many issues at play here that it's indefensible at this point. There is so much proof of all of these failing multiple times in a season or in many seasons.
Kalani was brought in, in Tom Holmoes words, to revive recruiting and beat Utah. He gets a D- at best in both of these area's.
Look, Kalani is a great guy, I really wanted this to work for him because he is a great guy... the guy you want on a personal level to lead your program. If everything was gauged by how good of a guy your coach is, BYU is reigning National Champions with Kalani. But for a guy who's team Motto is to Love and Learn... Kalani himself has forgotten the learning part. Nothing he does resembles the coach that he learned the most under, Whittingham... in fact he is so far removed from what Whittingham did that I have to question if he really did coach under Whittingham.
I've seen enough and know enough now that Kalani is a great man but a very mediocre at best head football coach.
