I can't speak for all districts, but my wife teaches in Nebo and the starting pay has definitely gotten better through
the years.

Starting teacher salary for the 2023-2024 school year for a first year teacher with a bachelors degree is a little over $57k - I feel that is fair or at least arriving at what many would consider fair and/or slightly underpaid. When my wife started teaching 13 years ago, I believe she was at $29k.

Between the last legislative session ($4800 raise across the state for all teachers) and Nebo increasing teacher pay another 5.5%, my wife is receiving a raise totalling about $8200 this coming school year. That is without a steps and lanes change.

So yeah, I feel like fair pay for teachers has arrived here in Utah. My brother is a teacher in California, and he says it is getting there too. His district has a 6% raise coming this next school year which will have him at $69k as a 4th year teacher.
