If the interviewer had said
I noticed you were wearing such and such today... In understand that this is an interview, but if you were to get the job you need to understand that such and such is not acceptable and that we expect you to wear such and such. Is that an issue for you?
From the OP , it sounds like the interviewer was put off because of what he wore to the interview and his defense of interview attire... If that is the best he has it is the best he has.. Houls teh interviewer like it if he showed up in Gucci and a $2000 Armani to an interview say, with an oil sheik silk made on a remote island and done by a blind tailor... your watch is a cheap rolex, If you can't drp 200 grande on your watch you will never make it in teh oil world....the sheik started bagging on him for not wearing a $50,000 wardrobe?
