but I would guess it's the minority of Mormons as a group. He reminds of a lot of the business undergrads I knew at BYU. Very competitive and loved to compare who was the harder-working missionary, etc.
Those attitudes, about the condition of your shoes for example, can be very common in some missions, but in my experience most RMs learn to move on.
I assume he was a recent graduate. I think he's trying to use his mission as a selling point and just doesn't realize where it starts to go overboard. Given a few years out of school in a business environment where he gets a better perspective of what the "real world" is like, he might be totally different if you met him again. Then again he might not.
