Echoing HarlemCoug's question above - what are you hoping happens here?
That Jake improves? That we consider other incoming/current QBs when the coaches are evaluating the QB "competition" during spring, summer, and fall practices? Or that Kalani/ARod actually pursue a QB outside the program?

Jake improving again this off-season is by far the best scenario and not unreasonable to expect (I would love to see that and don't dispute that he has some opportunities to get better).

Option 2 *might* be at least a possibility, though I believe it would be a huge uphill battle for any of our other QBs to outplay Jake after the year he's had as QB1 (mistakes and opportunities notwithstanding).

IMHO, option 3 is straight-up nonsense. I can't even imagine how it would make our program look to EVERYONE (recruits included) to follow up THIS season with an active effort to replace Jake.

MAYBE we could actually land someone with better pure skills who could learn the offense fast enough to apply those skills and MAYBE this person could also build sufficient trust and connections with the WRs and other offensive players to make it all click (while also replacing an 11-2 QB who the team is willing to ride or die with). In the best case scenario, is all that enough to get better overall results next year? I believe this action would probably singlehandedly undo much of the significant strides that Kalani and the other coaches have made in terms of culture and trust among the players. This would be a hot mess.

Just trying to understand how you'd like this to play out.
