I’m with you though. I do think there can be some personal bias of course (religious bias or bias against BYU). However, the idea of an organized plot against BYU executed by and through the refs seems too complex and in a world of whistleblowers, not likely. Especially for refs making 40-50K a year reffing sports.
Also, the “let’s blame the refs” thing happens my entire life after nearly every game in every sport. Could there be some personal bias from A ref here or there, yeah. But I don’t care to spend time talking about how the refs are the reason for every failed or potential failure after every freaking game. This is 50% of post game dialogue on fan message boards all over the county for the last 20 years.
Reffing is a tough part of organized sports. It’s extremely difficult, subject to human flaw, and inconsistent by nature. It sucks, but it’s what we have.
