The problem is the penalty exacted against BYU and Big 12 teams for losing, which is not exacted to the same extent
against the Big 10 and SEC. That's what people are frustrated by.
Ohio State loses to unranked Michigan - no big deal. Georgia nearly loses at home to Georgia Tech after 8 overtimes - no big deal.
BYU loses to unranked but surging Kansas by a few points - 9 point drop. BYU loses to ranked ASU on the road and suffers another 5 point drop.
That's the part of the system that people are identifying as completely ridiculous.
Why have strength of schedule metrics if the only thing that matters in the end is some eye test nonsense.

I agree with that. Part of it was that our schedule was a lot tougher and many of the bounces that went for us
