I just bought a home and did exactly that.
We looked at a lot of homes, always unrepresented, and never had an issue with the sellers agent showing the house to us. Sometimes we'd get the hard sell from realtors to be our buyers agent, but you can shut that down pretty quickly.

In our case, not only could we do this without a buyers agent, I think it was actually better for us not to have one. There is no buyers commission to pay - and we wanted to make that explicit. We'd either ask for a 2% rebate at closing, or take the lack of a commission into account when we made an offer, and include an addendum to the REPC that said: Buyer is unrepresented and is not asking for a rebate or commission.

But beyond the commission issue, we found some issues with the house at inspection, not unexpected on an older house, that were fairly costly to remedy. We negotiated concessions from the seller, and were prepared to walk if the seller did not agree to them. Had we had a buyers agent, his or her number one priority would have been making sure the sale closed, not getting us the best deal possible, and given my experience with realtors in the past, likely would have given us fairly heavy pushback on the concessions we asked for, not wanting to bring a fairly heavy ask to the other realtor, that could potentially torpedo the deal. In the end, the seller agreed and walked away with a ton of equity from owning a home in Utah for 20 years, and we got all the concessions we asked for. My wife and I both independently came to the conclusion that a buyers agent would only muddy the deal, and we probably would have gotten a worse deal or had to walk away.

You are clearly experienced, and I see no reason for you to need a buyers agent. Just be clear with the sellers agent that you are representing yourself. We never got much pushback on being unrepresented. Hopefully you won't either.
