Lots of good advice from all angles in this thread. I would get a second opinion from a pediatric therapist or
psychologist if possible. When we were discussing it with our youngest, we asked for a referral and visited with one up at the new Primary Children's hospital in Lehi.

It was awesome.

My cousin is also a pediatrician and he also refers kids like that if possible. Sure he can prescribe drugs, but our society is getting a little better at not "drugging them up" as a first-line treatment.

If your child needs the meds, then don't freak out about it. Statistics show that those with ADHD that need meds and don't get them are at a far greater risk of substance abuse than those that get on the proper medication and dosage that their body needs.

There are a lot more tools to navigating this in 2024 than there were in 1994.
