I have one child diagnosed and another that I’m having evaluated
I think its important to know that there are different kinds of digamosis-primary inattentive, hyperactive etc. for our oldest, primary inattentive meant that she hyper focuses on things she likes-reading, movies, and doesn’t on other things. After years for struggling to get her to memorize multiplication tables, (along with some other behavior clues) I came across an article that described her to a T. I wish we had her diagnosed sooner. Medication wasn’t her thing-she didn’t like how it made her feel, but school accommodations like sitting at the front, headphones during independent study time (to reduce distraction) etc have had enough of an impact that by high school she is catching up on math. Missing 3-5th grade math (meaning it just didn’t stick, she was in class, and taking hours to do homework) really made jr high tough. Glad we had her evaluated. In a side note, none of her teachers thought she had a problem because she wasn’t disruptive. It was literally needed to sit with her to keep her on task with homework that made me realize she was having some problems.
