My son can't catch a break.
He wanted to try out for soccer in 10th grade after playing comp soccer for years. Two weeks before tryouts, he has his ankle break during a tournament in St. George after a bad collision with another player. He tried out in 9th grade, but didn't make it.

Today, he was notified he didn't make the golf team after spending the entire summer practicing.

How do you guys help your kids when they go through dissapointments? What do you say when their efforts for practice are admirable and strong, but don't yield the result of making the team(s)?

I'm well aware that talent might come up as a concern, but he is good at both of these sports. The result of making the team doesn't show it, but he is really good at both.
