Watching my kids deal with that kind of thing has been way harder than dealing
with it in my own life. I don’t have any magic words. My advice is to make sure they know you love them, do something fun and distracting with them and encourage them to keep trying things with the knowledge that sometimes trying will work out and be awesome and other times you have to pick yourself up and try again because you come up short.

These kinds of experiences can be useful, because everyone has setbacks in life. Learning to get up and keep going is something more and more kids don’t learn until after they leave home.
