But for the high school volleyball program, they kept 2 seniors, 3 juniors, 6 sophomores, and 14 freshmen.
It’s a second year coach, so the goal must be to build up a program that will be good in a few years.
I had the same thing happen to me in high school basketball. I got cut my junior year. They kept 2 seniors, 4 juniors, and the rest sophomores and freshmen. The team went 0-20 that year with the hopes of building up the underclassmen. But that never came to fruition and everyone that played ended up hating it.
I don’t know that I am a fan of that strategy at the high school level, unless it is clear that those underclassmen are much better players than those in years above them. But obviously I’m biased having been through it myself and now with a child.
