To me.
I was set up on a blind date by a good friend. The girl was beautiful, smart, a talented singer, and very much a prude. We were both BYU students living in Provo but our mutual friend was in Orem.
We attended a large house party in Orem. There was a large theater room in this place with the Rock Band video game set up. We were all taking turns with various parts and it’s my turn to sing. I had never sung in this game so I picked a song I knew well and set it to the easy setting. First song goes great, perfect score and all that so I’m feeling confident. People are cheering me on so I pick another song I thought I knew well….
Turns out the lyrics to Spoonman by Soundgarden are a little more risqué than I knew and my blind date could handle. The entire party pretty much dies as I’m doing my best Chris Cornell impersonation not really paying attention to the words “come on while I get off” over and over again. I tried to work my way around the awkwardness and laugh it off but the whole place was kinda shocked, they were uptight.
She’d barely acknowledge my existence from that point on. No second date and the car ride home felt like an eternity, she was extremely uncomfortable.
