I think it's wrong not to recognize the sacrifices that decision entails and
to not acknowledge the potential pitfalls of that approach.
I would imagine that even with an exceptional family, there were regrets along the way and maybe even things he might have wanted to do differently. But to argue that a good family person can't pursue a career as a surgeon would be silly and wrong.
