I have a huge family. Tons of in-laws, cousins, nieces & nephews, on both sides.
We had a huge get together today. Lots of people from out of state even came in. My side of the family. And I've noticed what I'm about to say on my wife's side of family as well.
So many of the 20 and 30 year olds complain about how expensive homes, etc are, and how hard it is for their generation (more true than not).
And yet, so many of them seem to always be traveling. Europe, Hawaii, cruise, South America, etc.
We never went on nice vacations growing up. Most everything was staying in the Western United States and driving there. When I was a kid, vacation was driving to Utah to see cousins and driving back.
I guess air travel is less expensive now and if you feel like a nice house is out of reach, you might as well experience travel.(?)
I worry about my kids and what it's going to be like for them financially and housing wise when they move out of the house. My 12 year old daughter already asks if she can live in our basement when she's 18 to save money. She's been saying that since she was little lol. I think by the time she's 18 she'll want to be out of here. 🙂
