So I had heard Clarks name weeks ago that he was potentially one that would be let go. I don't think that Sunday, Kalani and ARod came up with the names on a whim and made it happen. I do believe that this has been something in the works for weeks and just got finalized on Sunday. With that said, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense but your dad maybe counting his blessing by this time next year.
I'm of the personal belief that ARod is one that needs to be let go, because he choose to tie his wagon to Funk last year. I think ARod doesn't prepare for games well at all, he adjusts slow and it was him that said before the season even began and after a couple of weeks of practices that EVERY position was upgraded from the previous year. It's my opinion that he owns the bulk of the responsibility here, and felt that he's getting too much credit for Hall and Wilson, mostly because he hasn't developed anything ready for this season... he rode the coattail of Grimes.
What doesn't make sense about Clark being let go is the fact that ARod simply doesn't utilize the TE at all... maybe that's why he's choosing to move on from Clark because he doesn't view a TE coach as a need for his offensive scheme.
At the end of the day, I think this coaching staff is going to go belly up next year. Kalani choosing to stick with ARod and then there just being too many fundamental problems with this coaching staff and the game prep and in game decisions that end up costing us more games or putting the team in a tougher position that I just don't see most of this staff returning next year. There honestly isn't any hire that can be made right now for the OL and TE positions that would excitement me or in my opinion make that big of a different in 1 year.
I've been let go from a couple of jobs that frustrated me and made no sense, but looking back, I'm glad it happened. The thing with BYU alumni and the fan base as a whole... Clark will be taken care of if he needs the help. Alumni and the fan base will be there for him. Maybe he returns after next year in some other capacity.
