Roads were not designed for bicycles unless there is a dedicated bike lane.
It's simple math on roadways.
Cars weigh more than bicycles. Are larger than bicycles. Are more visible than bicycles.
We're not Holland or wherever bikes are the bees knees. We didn't build America around cyclists, but motorists. Trying to conform a dainty bicycle to a roadway made for vehicles that start at 1-2 tons on up and have speed limits 2-5x a bicycle's speed is borderline insane. I'm amazed at how many insist on it. It's sad, but we can't stop you since the law allows you to ride in the car roadways.
