The pac12 was Lincoln Riley and whether he could turn USC around and win the conference. Many people watched other pac games just to see how the conference race would shake out. I don't think it had near as much to do with Utah as you think. Winning the conference doesn't have near the meaning once the playoffs go to 12 because it's much easier for a conference to get a team or 2 in the playoffs
