through various inconveniences that may be required in order to get a home.
Me and my wife got our home just about 5 years ago using the VA loan with 0% down. IDK what military standards are right now but last time I checked a lot of the military branches were having difficulties with recruiting.
Also.. there are markets in the country that are more affordable than others. Some young people realize this and are willing to move and some aren't. In the past year we actually got a younger couple move into our ward from out west and I would say are they are actually a lot more savy financially than me and my wife have been when it comes to setting yourself well financially from a young age.
They've been married about a year and have bought a duplex and I think another property as well. IDK the in's and out's of their finances but my wife managed their properties while they were on vacation once and they seemed to have their Air BnB's rented out quite frequently and seemed to being doing well.
From the times we've had them over at our house I can't ever recall them ever complaining about the housing market because I think they've been working on figuring out how to invest and work with it.
Also.. this young couple went on a week vacation to Europe ( France / Italy ) a couple months ago. Seems to me that there's ways to have the best of both world's but it may require some inconveniences / sacrifice to get what you want.
