Well, there's the rub, eh? Your conjecture and opinion says it's more likely a U
fan. U fans' conjecture and opinion say it's more likely a Y fan (or at least, NOT a U fan). My guess is it was someone who cares LESS about outcomes of a game then about getting someone in trouble. Either way, possible motives point to different possibilities on who it was. Did the person do it for revenge? Then it could be ANYONE: A Y fan that cared more about revenge than about the game, a non-sports fan who was just pissed and wanted revenge, etc. If it was out of self-righteousness (i.e. someone who was upset that rules were being broken), then that would likely point to a BYU fan (who else would care about the honor code being broken?). To be fair, I don't think this scenario is likely - that some do-gooder was upset at HC violations and saw it as his/her duty to right the wrong - because someone like that wouldn't even be in that club and have access to the picture that we've all seen. The person who got that picture was involved in the partying themselves. (granted, I'm making the assumption that the photo wasn't exchanging from source to source, which could have happened, but again, that would seem to point more to a revenge motivation than anything else).

Now, if the motivation was to keep Hadley from playing against the U - which would indicate a Utah fan - why would this highly conniving fan go to Cougarboard first? How would they have access to that picture? Why would they only worry about Hadley - BYU players are known far and wide by U fans for breaking HC rules...in these days of cameras everywhere, I think it would be pretty simple for U fans that frequent local watering holes to snap pictures all day long. Even so, remember, the picture is not some surreptitious, gotcha picture - it's a posed picture and the cameraman/woman was part of the party. Not to mention, if you wanted to get him banned for the Utah game, you're making a big gamble waiting to out the guy days before the game. What if the process doesn't move fast enough? Either way, remember that "Lucy" mentions that Hadley does the partying frequently, and Hadley doesn't seem to be denying this (I believe - but if I'm wrong and Hadley says this was a one time occurrence, I think we can all safely laugh about that. You don't go from good LDS non drinking RM to a party like that one overnight.), which again indicates a friend/associate/peer - someone that Hadley HAS to know or be aware of.

The only way that's NOT true is if someone how IS a friend/associate/peer of Hadley passed on the photo and the partying info to another party.

You have to ask yourself: What is a "die hard UTAH UTES fan" doing in the middle of all that? Just doesn't seem likely.

Oh, and the biggest reason to know that it was a U fan is that the person called themselves a UTAH UTES fan. Good grief, there's not a single U fan that would ever describe themselves that way - and certainly NOT to another Ute fan.

Anyway, until further notice and facts established, all anyone can say - and certainly all a REAL and credible journalist SHOULD do - is say that Lucy claimed to be a Ute fan but that his/her identity is unknown and that the fandom is alleged.
