Proud dad moment. My 16-year-old decided to dedicate his life to basketball this
Spring. As a sophomore who could have played varsity for at least half the teams in the state but didn't get the opportunity at his current school, he set goals and committed himself. He's been practicing 4 to 5 hours per day everyday since the spring. I don't mean he's going to the gym to shoot hoops with some buddies. I mean he's practicing dribbling and shooting and weightlifting and more shooting and more shooting and more dribbling on his own most of the time.

And he tracks all of his shots. One of his goals is to shoot 80% from three in practice during a practice session of at least half an hour. So about 500 shots. He's been in the '70s but finally got 80% yesterday.

Today he made 37 threes in a row. Previous record was 18.

I don't know how he flipped the switch, and it certainly wasn't anything I said or did. Is beyond anything I could have expected or that I could have accomplished myself.

Can't wait for big things on varsity the next 2 years.
