Has now been low key smashing the Ute fan base for coming at his son and talking about how Nu was guided by the Spirit to go BYU. Utes are frothing and gnashing their teeth bc Pops Tanuvasa isn't just some rando, he's a legacy dad who has influence and impact in the Poly community. And now he's defected.

I shared a while back about a friend and longtime mentor who is now in the 70 who is a lifelong Utah guy - told me when we had lunch last year that after 30 years as a season ticket holder he had given up his seats because he'd come to realize that he couldn't feel good about walking through Ute tailgates with his grandkids. Exact quote: "it's Sodom and Gomorrah in there sometimes."

Utah is losing people like that at a precipitous rate, and best believe that plenty of faithful Poly parents take note when a guy like Shawn Tanuvasa makes it clear that he wanted his son to get out of Ute Town.
