Utah recruiting will depend more on NIL support. A coach close to retirement doesn’t hurt recruiting as much as it used to. Players can transfer without penalty and it seems most players view things 1 year at a time these days.
You may be right that Utah will struggle going forward - but that’s far from a sure thing and IMO unlikely until KW retires.
A good coach at Utah will have enough resources to be competitive. Scalley at this point is the big question mark and that’s a bridge that probably doesn’t need to be crossed for 1-4 years
