Another factor for Utah: They are FAR more threatened by the re-emergence of ASU
and Colorado as real football schools than we are. A whole lot of their recruiting targets would rather play for Prime or party with ASU co-eds.
We'll compete with those schools for some recruits, for sure, but ASU and Colorado are going to be going after Utah's bread and butter guys and winning a lot of them. Meanwhile, elite LDS athletes will increasingly be coming home to BYU.
That pincer is gonna be bad news for Utah.
